COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Dove Inc’s Retired and Senior Volunteering Program that supports over 300 volunteers risks losing its funding if federal grants are not renewed by March 31; state funds will run out in June. A community discussion (Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church) will address the issue.  WAND

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Between fall 2024 and fall 2025, the University of Illinois Extension provided nutrition education at eight Decatur Public Schools with a grant from the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation — families learned balanced meal skills by matching MyPlate groups and practicing food math during festivals and open houses.  Decatur Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lake Decatur is four feet below normal as drought conditions persist since August. City water official Robert Weil expects normal precipitation to restore water levels in two to three months.  WAND

  • Weiss Realty announced that 2500 North Commerce Park is selected to join the Illinois Accelerated Site Assessment Program for faster site development, offering data center, advanced manufacturing and logistics opportunities near major highways and the Decatur Airport.  Decatur Tribune
