- ➤ Two people were displaced when a house fire broke out on the 1500 block of North Monroe Street on Friday morning (just after 7 a.m.); firefighters responded quickly and the Red Cross provided help while the cause remains under investigation. WAND

- ➤ On Feb. 20, DPS 61 board members Bill Clevenger and Christina Tyus joined Byers and Co. to talk about the district's mission, plan for the next superintendent, and future actions (the podcast offered insight into upcoming steps). Now Decatur
- ➤ Nicole Nash Moody will become the new superintendent for Decatur Public Schools if approved at the Feb. 24 board meeting. She will take over from Rochelle Clark on July 1 pending a community introduction (4 p.m. at the Johns Hill Magnet School Auditorium). WAND

- ➤ Decatur Fire Chief Neil Elder discussed a free smoke alarm program with fire safety tips for homeowners on Feb. 20 during a podcast with Byers & Co, noting that the initiative is designed to help residents protect their homes. Now Decatur

- ➤ The boil order was lifted for Decatur neighborhoods after water safety measures were met, affecting West Center (from Florian to Wyckles), West Main, and nearby areas including Wilcox, Elizabeth, North Sunnyside, Price, and Heather Hills.
