- ➤ During March, Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois celebrated Social Work Month to honor licensed social workers who help with foster care, adoption and counseling. The agency is calling for more social workers to meet the rising needs of families and is actively recruiting new professionals and foster families—steps that promise to bring more help to children in the community. - ➤ Bret Michaels will open the 2025 season at the Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater on May 22—tickets start selling at 10 a.m. on March 26 with prices ranging from $55 to $89. WCIA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Neoga schools delayed the restart of instruction until March 26 after a tornado hit on March 15—damaging the elementary and junior/senior high schools. High school students will resume classes at the community center while elementary students return to the repaired school buildings, and the extra closure days are noted as Act of God Days. WAND
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The National Weather Service confirmed eight tornadoes hit central Illinois over the weekend — damaging homes, schools, outbuildings, utility poles and trees while no injuries were reported. An EF-2 tornado reached 115 mph — tracking more than 10 miles, and other tornadoes near Stewardson, Windsor, Lovington, Flatville, and Gifford caused additional damage. WAND
