The Salvation Army in Decatur provided crucial support to thousands in Macon County, as its 2024 Impact Report shows it offered housing, food and community services.
The organization helped 329 homeless men—73 moved into permanent housing and 55 found jobs—and it served 1,103 individuals each month at its food pantry while also aiding families, veterans and youth through various programs.
Prodigy Project will host a family-friendly wrestling event for St. Jude on March 23 at Sliderz Bar & Grill to raise funds for children fighting serious illnesses — tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under, with doors opening at 4 p.m.
🏥 Health
The Macon County Health Department announced on Monday that it installed a new sharps disposal drop box outside its main entrance at 1221 E Condit St. It offers 24/7 safe disposal for needles and other sharps — people can also pick up a free container during regular hours.
