  • Old King's Orchard Community Center has launched a driver’s ed program to help residents earn licenses by offering classes for teens, young adults, and individuals needing to reinstate privileges. Leaders say the course removes employment barriers and includes a tiered payment system (ensuring cost isn’t an issue).  WAND
  • ADM awarded scholarships on Mar. 24 to 10 Richland Community College students—recognized on Feb. 18—for their work in carbon sequestration. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • City of Decatur held a prescribed burn near Oakley at its sediment storage basin, east of Lake Decatur, from March 23 to March 24 to reduce invasive species and wildfire risk; professionals managed the burn at 6705 Angle Crossing Road with measures to limit smoke drifting near homes.  WAND

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State lawmakers reintroduced legislation to form a prescription drug affordability board that will review high-cost medications causing patient challenges. House Bill 1443 passed the Healthcare Availability and Accessibility Committee on Tuesday night (8-4 vote) and now heads to the House floor for further debate.  WAND
