- ➤ The Decatur Fire Department is battling a large brush fire on North Van Dyke Street near the intersection with Eldorado Street—train tracks are close to the flames as a fire department staff member confirmed the location while the fire chief remains unavailable for comment. WCIA
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three people including a 16-year-old were arrested in connection with the January murder of a Decatur teen after police responded to a shooting on the 500 block of S. Church Street that left 19-year-old Izreal B. Lewis dead — detectives later seized firearms, ammunition, and electronic devices from nearby residences. WAND
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Fatima Ahmed, a candidate for the Unit 4 School Board, said she will improve communication—transparency, school safety and anti-racism measures—to restore trust ahead of the April 1 election. ABC 20
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The race for Decatur City Council features two incumbents, Ed Culp and David Horn, who are seeking new terms, and three newcomers—Consuelo Cruz, Micah Ray, and Jim Wrigley—vying for three seats while Councilman Chuck Kuhle is not running again.
