Good morning, Decatur.

Decatur youth organization Shemilah Outreach is looking for a new home after federal officials said they must vacate their current space by April 15 as the property is being seized amid a fraud investigation; the group, founded by Shemuel Sanders in memory of his daughter—shot and killed in 2020—is known for giving at-risk youth a safe place to learn, eat, and play. This urgent search comes as the organization faces an uncertain future with spring and summer being its busiest times.

Decatur Police Department is joining with the Illinois Department of Transportation and Illinois State Police to enforce distracted driving laws during Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Officers warn drivers to put their phones away since violators will be ticketed in April — a measure to keep roads safe.
