Good Samaritan Inn in Decatur exceeded its $410,000 fundraising goal that secured daily meals and avoided potential closure, thanks to strong community support.

Executive Director Tanya Melendez said the milestone shows continued efforts to help neighbors facing food insecurity.

Mt. Zion United Methodist Church will host a free self-guided exhibit titled Journey to the Cross on Good Friday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1220 West Main Street — the exhibit includes 12 stations with Bible verses and interactive activities for all faith backgrounds.

Oglesby Mansion will host its annual educational play (Grant Visits the Oglesbys) for fifth grade students from April 27 through May 1; students will tour the mansion and engage with actors portraying 1880 historical figures to learn about local and state history.

ImpactLife & local organizations are hosting community blood drives throughout April; the first is Tuesday, Apr.

7 at Decatur Memorial Hospital from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with additional drives planned on Apr. 10 at Sangamon Valley High School and Apr. 16 at City of Decatur, with appointments required.
