- ➤ On Sunday, April 20 at 9:15 p.m., Decatur firefighters battled a severe fire for three hours at an abandoned home on East William Street that required a Second Alarm and led to the building being declared a total loss. ABC 20

- ➤ Decatur Police said a second shooting happened on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. on North Church Street between Johnson Avenue and Division Street – one person was shot in the leg and is expected to be okay, and investigators do not believe the incidents are related. WCIA

- ➤ Decatur has named Brad Allen as its new Chief of Police — a longtime officer with 27 years in service — and he will take charge on May 10. City Manager Tim Gleason said Allen is well-prepared to lead the department. WCIA
