COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Decatur Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a community luncheon on May 14 at the Mt. Zion Convention Center; doors open at 11:15 a.m. with lunch at 11:30 a.m. and the event ending at 1:30 p.m. Speakers including Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe will discuss local economic development and priorities.  Now Decatur
  • Operation Honor Guard and Calvert and Wikoff will host a Day of Giving on May 6 in Decatur. The event site (open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.) lets residents donate and learn about support for veteran funeral honors.  Now Decatur
  • The University of Illinois Extension will host the Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to noon on May 2 at the Macon County Fairgrounds. Gardeners will browse annuals, perennials, native plants, and gently used tools (walk-ins are welcome though advance registration is requested).  Now Decatur
  • Today at 5:30 p.m., unions and community members gather at the Macon County Workers’ Memorial Monument on the courthouse lawn to honor fallen and injured workers. The Mid-Illinois Labor Council leads the ceremony — featuring reading of names and tribute to union member Samuel Ward, who died in 2025.  Now Decatur
  • Dr. Juanita Morris joined Byers and Co on April 27 to discuss DCLI programming and activity at the Ag building during a podcast feature, offering clear insights on local initiatives + expert perspectives.  Now Decatur

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jami Fawley and Katie Dunscomb previewed the upcoming 2026 Craft Beer Festival and the Summer Arts and Culture exhibit (Form and Function: A Mid-Century Modern Time Capsule) with Byers and Co on April 27. They discussed event details to spark local interest.  Now Decatur
