CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On May 4th, the Decatur Police Department issued 24 citations for hands-free law violations during April's Distracted Driving Awareness Month—fewer than the 67 citations issued in 2024—and warned that distracted driving remains a serious danger. Now Decatur
- ➤ On May 3 at 11:50 a.m., deputies from Macon County and Decatur Park Police responded to a call at the P&V Gas Station in Macon when a suspect who wrecked a vehicle and brandished a machete fled on foot, took control of a squad car to ram a police vehicle, and later pointed a shotgun at officers before being shot, with the suspect and a park officer sustaining non-life-threatening injuries while an investigation by state and local units continues.
