- ➤ On May 19, school staff at Hope Academy reported that a 14-year-old student had an unloaded handgun in his waistband; the Decatur School Resource Officer quickly located and arrested him—he was transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Facility as the investigation continues. - ➤ The Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater will begin its 2025 season tomorrow as staff complete final tasks—power washing and setting up sound and lights—while preparing for six shows featuring Bret Michaels, Alex Miller, The Fray, Morris Day, The Time and Lil John. The venue has added new food choices with Del Carmen’s Pizza and will open a non-alcoholic bar called Lakeshore Fizz, with tickets available on its website. WAND

- ➤ Lieutenant Scott Rosenbery will be promoted to Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigations Division on May 23 to replace Brian Cleary, who retires after a 30-year career. Rosenbery has worked at the department since 2006 and was promoted from detective in 2009 to Sergeant in 2017 and Lieutenant in 2022 — his experience makes him a strong fit for his new role.
