EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday, May 26, Decatur Public Schools District 61 and the Decatur Education Association ratified a collective bargaining agreement covering 2026 through 2029 at a board meeting. The contract provides salary increases and up to 15 days paid emergency leave (subject to superintendent approval) to support staff.  WAND
  • Dr. Dean Pribbenow and Dr. Teresa Gulley of Millikin University and Decatur Memorial Hospital met May 27 with Byers and Co to discuss nursing scholarships for students who commit to work at DMH, outlining clear career pathways for aspiring nurses.  Now Decatur
  • Thinkwell Makerspace Innovations in Decatur has announced an 8 week summer camp series for students in grades 4 to 12, with MakerCamp sessions in June and themed camps in July. Sessions run Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and fees start at $280.  Now Decatur
