- ➤ Legislation to lower drug prices by regulating pharmacy benefit managers is headed to Gov. Pritzker's desk after passing nearly unanimously in both the House and Senate. The bill would stop PBMs from charging Medicaid more than the cost of drugs and let the state review their records — a change expected to help independent pharmacies and consumers. WAND
- ➤ Lawmakers passed a $55.2 billion budget package minutes before midnight that shifted funds from programs like road repair and added just over one billion dollars in new tax increases+ taxes on cigarettes and vapes to balance spending while fully funding K-12 education, though higher education saw only a 1% increase and group home care was slightly reduced. Senate leaders warned that potential federal cuts may force lawmakers to revise the plan later this summer. WCIA
- ➤ Yesterday, the Illinois House passed a bill to raise the minimum detainment age for minors from 10 to 13 and will end detention for 10 and 11-year-olds on July 1 and for 12-year-olds the following year—with a carveout for serious crimes like murder and aggravated assault. The measure, which passed 73-41, also creates a Child First Reform Task Force and adds programs to give youth who commit nonviolent crimes access to education, job training and health services. WAND
