- ➤ On Saturday, hundreds gathered at the Big Daddy Open to support Charlie Spurlock, who is recovering from a severe sledding accident in January—funds raised at the event will help pay for his ongoing therapy, medical costs, and housing while he receives treatment in Chicago. Now Decatur
- ➤ The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois and Central Illinois Media Group are hosting Operation Cookie Share tomorrow from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Central Park to honor military, frontline responders, and healthcare providers by sending thousands of cookie boxes to troops and raising funds for Girl Scout Leadership Experience, with food trucks arriving from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Now Decatur

- ➤ On Saturday night at about 9:45 p.m., Decatur firefighters responded to a fire at 1197 W. Green St. — smoke from the roof showed the unoccupied home under renovation suffered major attic damage and officials are investigating the cause. WAND
- ➤ A Decatur man died and two others were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash that occurred just after 3 p.m. Friday near the intersection of W. Rock Springs Road and Westgate Drive—police said a PT Cruiser abruptly turned right into the westbound lane, striking a Chevrolet truck carrying an 18-year-old and a juvenile with minor injuries while the investigation remains ongoing. - ➤ The Decatur Fire Department answered a call about a fire at an empty home on W. Green Street Saturday night—firefighters saw smoke, quickly put out the blaze, and began looking into what started the fire after the building, which was under renovation, suffered major damage. WCIA

- ➤ A 12-year-old boy riding his bicycle was struck and killed just after 5 p.m. near North Van Dyke and West King when a Dodge Charger driven by a 45-year-old man—accused of driving under the influence—hit him and he later died at the hospital as police investigated the fatal crash. WAND
