- ➤ Decatur Public Transit System is partnering with Modeshift to remove cash fare boxes from its buses and switch to a cashless payment system over the next three to four months—riders will use reloaded rider cards or a QR app to pay, and those without cards can reload cash at payment terminals at the Senator Severns Transit Center. The system plans to add more terminals later to help more people make payments. WAND
- ➤ A bill in the Illinois General Assembly would allow a racino to be built in Decatur on 200 acres at US 36 and Wyckles Road — a privately funded project that promises an annual $27M boost and 300 new jobs. Senator Sally Turner said lawmakers will revisit the bill this Fall with potential changes to gaming rules — addressing concerns from local businesses about revenue loss. ABC 20
