ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Decatur Fire Department responded to multiple fires on Friday night by extinguishing a shed blaze on S. Illinois St. at about 11:00 p.m. and tackling a fire in a vacant home under renovation on N. 34th St. at around 11:30 p.m.—with advanced fire conditions and a collapsed basement floor that took 3 hours to put out—while also managing small rubbish and dumpster fires that damaged an occupied home’s exterior; investigators are checking if fireworks caused the incidents. - ➤ On June 29, police said an ex-boyfriend attacked a 38-year-old man who was walking with his former girlfriend on W. William Street—police reported the victim lost consciousness, sustained a cut lip and bloody nose, and the accused now faces aggravated battery charges with pretrial release conditions.
