- ➤ Central Illinois farmers are optimistic about the growing season after recent rains improved fields that began dry. David Brown said farms in Effingham, Shelby, and Christian counties look healthy and farmers will soon spray fungicide to guard against black tar spot—preparing for harvest after the Farm Progress Show. - ➤ Sunshine Supplies for Teachers, a non-profit organization, helps over 300 central Illinois teachers get school supplies for a one-time fee of $50—reducing teachers' expenses and stress. The subpoenas come after a judge rejected a safety injunction and the school filed an amended complaint on June 16 that claims the development will endanger students and harm school finances.
