- ➤ Dan Watkins from God's Shelter of Love said WCIA spoke with him about the Phil Collins Experience concert that will be held at Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater on Aug. 2 to raise money for the shelter. He said merchandise sales will help support one of only two shelters for women and children in Macon County. WCIA

- ➤ On Saturday, the Decatur Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1237 E Whitmer and quickly extinguished the flames after an adult resident and his dog had already left safely with no injuries reported. ABC 20
- ➤ Emergency crews responded to a house explosion in Warrensburg on Sunday — the Macon County Coroner confirmed that two bodies were recovered and sent for autopsy as investigators probed the cause. ABC 20

- ➤ Wakil Oneal, a 28-year-old, pleaded guilty to aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after a shooting near a Decatur baby shower on Nov. 17th, 2024—he was sentenced to 18 months in prison with credit for time served. WCIA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Illinois Extension is offering a free eight-week financial education series called 'All My Money' at the Decatur Family YMCA starting at 11 a.m. on Aug. 4—registration is requested by July 31 for anyone 18 and older, with sessions running through Sept. 29. Now Decatur
- ➤ On July 14th, the Decatur Memorial Foundation awarded scholarships to nine students in health, science and agriculture from funds including the Decatur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Dr. Richard H. Fritz, Dr. Thomas W. Samuels, Dr. Joseph Schrodt and Agriculture scholarships. Interim CEO Tamar Kutz said the awards will support future local talent plus winners will attend colleges such as the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Illinois College, Millikin University, Richland Community College and Lakeland Community College.
