- ➤ Union Pacific will buy Norfolk Southern in an $85 billion deal that will merge their rail networks—including Norfolk Southern’s 3.6-mile rail yard in Decatur, noted as the largest flat yard in North America—and create a system covering 50,000 miles across 43 states.
