  • The WSOY Community Food Drive will take place on October 3rd from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Airport Plaza Kroger on Rt. 36 to help local food pantries that are struggling after losing a $1.2 million USDA grant and facing higher food prices—pantries are reporting a rising need among families and seniors.  Decatur Tribune
  • The City of Decatur, working with CONO and its National Night Out committee, invites residents to join the 42nd Annual National Night Out at Johns Hill Park on Tuesday, August 5 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The free family event offers food, games, a foam and bubble party, prizes and more to promote community safety—No Time for Crime.  ABC 20

  • The Decatur Sister Cities Committee will host a dedication ceremony on Monday, August 4 at 4:00 p.m. in Central Park (near the Transfer House) to unveil a new sculpture by local artist Darren Miller honoring Decatur’s sister cities Tokorozawa, Japan and Seevetal, Germany. Six high school students from Tokorozawa will attend (demonstrating youth engagement) as part of the event.  Decatur Tribune

  • A Macon County jury awarded $17 million to the family of nine-month-old Oliver Bayless — who died in 2019 after suffering brain damage due to alleged medical negligence during delivery — marking a legal decision in a long-standing case.  Herald & Review
