- ➤ Organizers in Decatur are finalizing plans for the 20th anniversary Farm Progress Show, which will run from August 26 to August 28. Host farmer David Brix said landscapers, electricians and tent companies are busy setting up rides, drives and signage as the final month of preparations continues–work aimed at ensuring a smooth event. - ➤ Gray Media will acquire WAND TV + two other stations in an $80 million deal from Block Communications announced Friday; the sale is expected to close in the last quarter pending federal review. - ➤ Monticello police arrested two Decatur residents in connection with burglaries near the 1000 block of S. Market St after video evidence linked a black truck registered to Kelsey Sandage (on pre-trial for felony charges) and led to the detention of Ronald Junior for possession of burglary tools, a controlled substance and trespassing as police continue investigating similar incidents. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Decatur schools saw the launch of IMPACT—an alternative education program by the Macon-Piatt Regional Office of Education that places liaisons in each school to help students with academic, attendance and behavioral needs while staying in familiar surroundings. - ➤ Gov. JB Pritzker signed a law Friday to require that all new school buses in Illinois have three-point seat belts starting in 2031. The law took effect immediately—buses bought before 2031 are not required to meet the new standard. WAND
