  • On August 4, John West of First Mid Bank & Trust and Kevin Breheny joined Byers & Co to discuss the bank's support for the WSOY Community Food Drive, an effort to collect food for local families.  Now Decatur
  • Decatur residents are hosting the 217 ALZ Wiffle Ball Classic + a fundraiser for Alzheimer’s research and local treatment programs that runs today through August 10 at 2910 S. Lewallen Pl. East Lost Bridge Road between South Baltimore Avenue and East Fitzgerald Road will be closed from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. until the event ends.  Now Decatur
  • The Coalition of Neighborhood Organizations will host its monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the Madden Room of the Decatur Public Library, where residents can share ideas and concerns for local projects.   • State Senator Doris Turner said House Bill 1865 stops insurance companies from asking nursing home residents or people over 65 to change or buy new insurance without first waiting 48 hours and having a choice—this law also stops long-term care facilities from moving residents with reduced decision-making ability without guardian approval and will take effect Jan. 1.  Decatur Tribune
  • On August 4, 2025, Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe joined Byers & Co to discuss neighborhood development, Sister Cities, city boards and National Night Out, while also addressing community challenges (topics that may shape future city projects).  Now Decatur

  • Dr. Ted Clark was named as Memorial Health’s senior vice president and chief clinical officer effective August 4. In his new role, he will oversee Memorial Medical Group, Memorial Behavioral Health and quality, safety and home health services teams—he previously served as the hospital’s chief medical officer since 2020.  Decatur Tribune
  • Crossing Healthcare is celebrating National Health Center Week from August 3-9 to honor 60 years of service with events such as Dress Through the Decades days plus resource booths from local partners.
