State Senator Doris Turner said House Bill 1865 stops insurance companies from asking nursing home residents or people over 65 to change or buy new insurance without first waiting 48 hours and having a choice—this law also stops long-term care facilities from moving residents with reduced decision-making ability without guardian approval and will take effect Jan. 1.

On August 4, 2025, Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe joined Byers & Co to discuss neighborhood development, Sister Cities, city boards and National Night Out, while also addressing community challenges (topics that may shape future city projects).

Dr. Ted Clark was named as Memorial Health’s senior vice president and chief clinical officer effective August 4.

In his new role, he will oversee Memorial Medical Group, Memorial Behavioral Health and quality, safety and home health services teams—he previously served as the hospital’s chief medical officer since 2020.
