- ➤ State Senator Doris Turner passed a law on August 17 that requires emergency dispatchers to receive training in telecommunicator CPR — a phone-based method for guiding bystanders during cardiac arrest. The law takes effect Jan. 1 and will boost emergency response efforts. Now Decatur
- ➤ State Senator Doris Turner has introduced a law to alert property owners, including those in Decatur, when a deed is filed on their property to fight fraud. County recorders must set up a fraud alert system and the law gives owners a legal option to challenge fake filings — the measure takes effect Jan. 1. Decatur Tribune

- ➤ HSHS St. Mary's Hospital held a blessing ceremony on August 17th for its new helipad—part of a $90 million renovation that is updating surgical suites, the emergency department, and clinical spaces.
