GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Senator Doris Turner passed a law on August 17 that requires emergency dispatchers to receive training in telecommunicator CPR — a phone-based method for guiding bystanders during cardiac arrest. The law takes effect Jan. 1 and will boost emergency response efforts.  Now Decatur
  • State Senator Doris Turner has introduced a law to alert property owners, including those in Decatur, when a deed is filed on their property to fight fraud. County recorders must set up a fraud alert system and the law gives owners a legal option to challenge fake filings — the measure takes effect Jan. 1.  Decatur Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • HSHS St. Mary's Hospital held a blessing ceremony on August 17th for its new helipad—part of a $90 million renovation that is updating surgical suites, the emergency department, and clinical spaces. The ceremony was led by Fr. Amal Roche and Karla Marshall to ask for protection and healing for air medical transport patients.  Now Decatur
