  • Lauren Connelly, winner of the 2025 Heartland CASA Playhouse Raffle on August 21, donated her custom-built playhouse prize to a local foster family—supported by community sponsors—and the move highlights a strong local commitment to foster care.  Now Decatur
  • Chevrolet Camaro fans will gather at the Chevrolet Hall of Fame Museum parking lot in Decatur tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a free car show organized by the non-profit Illinois Camaro—profits benefit Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, Inc.—that will present awards for Camaro generations and modified cars.  Now Decatur
  • Following the closure of the Decatur Club, Lincoln Square Theater has stepped in to offer flexible spaces for weddings, showers, music events, and meetings in downtown Decatur—providing local organizations, businesses, and families a new venue that honors longstanding community traditions. CRIME NEWS

  • A suspected DUI crash on Thursday night on Decatur's west side left a 38-year-old woman dead and a man severely injured when a car hit them on the far sidewalk of W. Main Street — police arrested Issaih Flagg, whose license was already suspended, with BAC results still pending.  WAND
  • On August 20 at about 9:47 p.m., Decatur Police responded to a call from a residence in the 1900 block of E. Main Street and found three stabbing victims—a 38-year-old woman who later died and her children, ages 14 and 16, who were treated and released—while detectives collected video evidence and continue the investigation.  Decatur Tribune
  • A Decatur man, Kahylil Woods, was found guilty of shooting and killing two men in March 2023 on the 500 block of East Johnson Avenue—his sentencing hearing is scheduled for early October.  WAND
