  • New Jersey-based Rising Pharmaceuticals has shut down its two Decatur facilities after operating for two years. About 95 employees have been informed and will receive full pay and benefits through Nov. 15 — Workforce Investment Solutions will assist those affected with job training and resume support.  WAND

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Decatur Public Schools will hold a job fair at 3 p.m. on Sept. 19 before the MacArthur-Eisenhower game starts at 5 p.m.—the DPS Athletic Hall of Fame induction will occur at halftime, and the district is seeking teaching assistants and substitute teachers.  Herald & Review

  • Decatur City Manager Tim Gleason said repair costs for the former Wee Folks daycare soared to $1.6 million as past leadership underestimated needed fixes. The city council delayed finalizing the agreement with operator Cherri Johnson—reviewing details on health and safety upgrades required by state standards.  Herald & Review
  • Decatur City Manager Tim Gleason will resign Oct.31 after Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe blamed Councilman David Horn’s toxic behavior for distracting staff from key tasks — a factor in his decision to leave. Horn defended his actions as a way to serve the public interest.  Herald & Review

  • Tanya Andricks was named president and CEO of Decatur Memorial Hospital—effective Oct. 13—and replaces Drew Early, who was promoted earlier this year. She brings over 30 years of healthcare experience—she began as a DMH nurse and later led Crossing Healthcare—to guide the hospital with local insight.  Now Decatur
  • Decatur Memorial Hospital named Tanya Andricks as its next president and CEO Tuesday — she will begin her new role on Oct. 13. She started her career in the hospital's emergency department and led Crossing Healthcare since 2013.  WAND
