  • The community is invited to the Cops, Coffee and Cameras event on Tuesday, September 30th from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at McDonald’s West on 962 West Eldorado—sponsored by Decatur Police, McDonald’s, and the Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association—with officials ready to answer questions while free blink cameras and security doorbell cameras are offered to citizens with internet access.  Now Decatur

CULTURE NEWS

  • On September 22, Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Arts Council gave out grants of $16.2 million to 1,123 artists, organizations + communities, including local groups in Decatur. Decatur received more than $82 thousand to support its arts programs like the Decatur Area Arts Council and Millikin University.  Now Decatur

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Richland Community College Board of Trustees is seeking a candidate who is a district resident and committed to the college’s mission, with the role lasting until the 2027 election and a re-election bid planned in 2033.   • On September 22nd, Lori Kearns of Millikin University and Kevin Breheny joined Byers & Co to discuss the university’s stepped-up efforts for the WSOY Community Food Drive and its plan to tackle food insecurity on campus.  Now Decatur

  • Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs said an online auction is live featuring unclaimed property items like Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron baseball cards, 1989 Chicago Bears pins and a 14 karat yellow gold Omega woman’s watch—bidding on 150 lots will continue until September 28.  Now Decatur
