CULTURE NEWS

  • The Decatur Area Arts Council’s Christmas Card Lane exhibit has returned for its eighth year and is now on display at Preston Jackson Park, where local artists created 4-by-6‑foot wooden cards featuring holiday designs. Local residents can vote online for their favorite design—voting ends December 24 with cash prizes for the top three entries.  Now Decatur
  • On November 18th, Natalie Beck of the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation joined Byers + Co with Jenette Jurczyk and Peggy Myers to announce the cast of the next That’s What She Said show and explain the special casting process.  Now Decatur

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Decatur students visited Andreas Ag Academy this week to learn about metal casting and explore foundry careers. They practiced casting techniques that show how raw metal is turned into finished products.  Herald & Review
  • Springfield, Decatur and Champaign are searching for their next superintendent with each district following its own process. Decatur offers a salary range of $215,000 to $270,000 while search firms use a nationwide effort — and all three districts plan to choose their leader by the end of January.  Fox Illinois

  • On November 18, 2025, Dave Wendt and Jill Applebee from the Village of Forsyth joined Byers & Co to discuss updates on emergency response plans, water supply, Rudolph’s Village Market and local commercial business in partnership with Decatur Moves.  Now Decatur

  • On November 18, Lauren Young joined Byers & Co to preview the Pharmacy Facts with Friends podcast which will cover Medicare Part D, prescription price changes, the Pharmacists Fight Back Act, holiday hours, and a fundraiser for a Maroa-Forsyth student.  Now Decatur

SPORTS NEWS

  • Golden Rule Entertainment, Millikin University, and the City of Decatur announced a new partnership to bring a Prospect League summer collegiate baseball team to Decatur—residents will soon suggest a team name. The team will begin play in the 2026 season with an opening day set for late May.  Now Decatur
