COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Board of Directors of Decatur Area Habitat for Humanity announced on November 23 that all operations—including the ReStore and Christmas Shop—will pause through the end of the year to support a strategic reorganization for continued service to families. The organization expects to reopen early next year and maintains its mission to build affordable housing.  Now Decatur

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Decatur Area Arts Council is asking locals for Mardi Gras artifacts for a February exhibit at the Madden Arts Center—items like masks, costumes, photographs, and parade memorabilia will be used to highlight Mardi Gras history and cultural traditions.  Now Decatur
  • Decatur Public Library will host a free holiday event called Guess Who's Coming to Town? on December 3 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.—children can join for crafts, games, and browsing seasonal books, music and DVDs while Santa and Mrs. Claus visit between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and the event will run alongside the Downtown Decatur Christmas Walk. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On November 23, the City of Decatur reduced Stage 1 Water Rationing to voluntary after a rainy weekend and urged residents and businesses to conserve water by following measures such as limiting lawn watering and using commercial car washes—regular drought updates will monitor Lake Decatur’s levels over the next two months.  Now Decatur
