  • Oakwood Tattoo held its annual Toys for Tats promotion on Thursday as locals brought in unwrapped toys worth $35 or more to exchange for new ink - all donations supported WAND's Spirit of Giving and partnerships with local businesses to share the Christmas spirit.  WAND

CULTURE NEWS

  • Yesterday, Dec. 4, the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation & the Untold Stories Committee unveiled the second African American Heritage Trail marker at Parsons Elementary, honoring Judge James Benton Parsons & Black educators while local partners joined the dedication.  Now Decatur
  • On Thursday, Parsons School dedicated the second marker for the Macon County African American Heritage Trail to honor Judge James B. Parsons as part of a local effort to celebrate community heritage.  Herald & Review
  • Voting is underway for the Christmas Card Lane exhibit at Preston Jackson Park for the Decatur Area Arts Council. The outdoor event displays 4-by-6 wooden cards by local artists with online voting open until December 24 and prizes of $200, $100 and $50 for the top three designs.  Now Decatur

  • IDNR reminded hunters on Dec. 4 to follow state rules on using drones, AI tools, and e-bikes for hunting. Officials said violations may lead to equipment seizure and urged the use of official sources for accurate guidelines.  Now Decatur
