  • Film director Jake Rademacher will host a free screening and seminar on Friday, Dec. 13 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at AMC Theatres in Mt. Zion (reservation required) for active and retired military and their families in partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation.  Now Decatur
  • The Macon County Conservation District invites local residents to view the Geminid Meteor Shower on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 9-11 p.m. at Friends Creek Conservation Area Group Campsite.   • A fire broke out on Saturday at a residence on the 1200 block (W Sunset Ave) in Decatur, displacing a family of four with no injuries reported.  Fox Illinois

  • Air Supply will perform at Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater on July 25, 2026 as part of their 50th Anniversary Tour. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Dec. 11 with prices from $39 for lawn seating to $99 for pit access + fees.  ABC 20
  • Dr. Juanita Morris joined Byers and Co on December 8 to talk about holiday celebrations and planning for 2026 in a podcast that covered documentaries, college sports, and holiday decorating.  Now Decatur

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gasoline prices in Illinois dropped 9.5 cents per gallon over the past week, now averaging $3.03 per gallon according to GasBuddy’s survey of 4,378 stations+ This drop offers some relief for local drivers facing lower fuel costs.  ABC 20

HEALTH NEWS

  • During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Decatur Memorial Hospital provided 925 mammograms — including 26 free screenings — for uninsured and underinsured women in Macon County, funded by local donor support. The program helped local residents get lifesaving preventive care.  Decatur Tribune
