- ➤ The City of Decatur is asking residents to share feedback on improvements for the Oakwood Business District (near Millikin University along Oakland Ave between W Main and W Wood Streets). The survey will help plan upgrades to parking, lighting, and safety measures. Decatur Tribune

- ➤ The Decatur Area Arts Council seeks community items for a Mardi Gras exhibit at the Madden Arts Center in February. The exhibit will highlight Mardi Gras history and cultural traditions and requests masks, costumes, photographs, and parade memorabilia to enrich its display. Now Decatur

- ➤ Due to a winter storm on Saturday, Mark W. Sorenson's presentation on Decatur Public Library's 150-year history has been rescheduled to Saturday, Dec. 20, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Madden Auditorium (at the library). Decatur Tribune
- ➤ Matthew Flaten of Millikin University joined Byers + Co on Dec. 17 to preview upcoming events including campus visit day, President Pribbenow’s inauguration and several live performances. Now Decatur
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new Illinois law updates state rules to help craft brewers and distillers grow by creating a Class 3 license and making the cocktails to go program permanent (a move that simplifies alcohol delivery and rewards programs). Lawmakers in Springfield approved the measure with a strong bipartisan vote. WAND
- ➤ Today, the Decatur Fire Department promoted Tina German-Roberts to captain, making her the first woman in the department to hold the title. She has served as a paramedic and Dive Rescue Team member — coordinating emergency medical training programs. WAND
